SUZLON TO ADD 1.2 GW OF INDIAN WIND IN FY, GLOBALDATA SEES 678.5 GW IN 2020
Moving to India, local wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667) expects to install over 1,200 MW of turbines at home in the fiscal year through March 2015, chairman Tulsi Tanti told the Hindu Business Line recently. The company calculates that it will be responsible for about 40% of the 3,000 MW of new wind capacity expected in India for the current fiscal year.
With all said so far in our Friday Note, it is no wonder that research and consulting firm GlobalData expects to see the global wind energy capacity double to 678.5 GW by 2020 from 319 GW at end-2013. It said in a press release on Tuesday that growth would be driven by China, which is expected to boost its cumulative wind power capacity to 239.7 GW by the end of the decade.
