The Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has signed a PPA for the 2-GW Al Dhafra solar project in the UAE at a record-low tariff of AED 0.0497 (USD 0.0135/EUR 0.0116) per kWh. The project was won by a consortium comprising Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Masdar with a combined 60% stake, and France’s EDF SA (EPA:EDF) and China's Jinko Power Technology holding the remaining 40%. US aluminium packaging provider Ball Corporation (NYSE:BLL) has two European virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) in place that are tied to 93.4 MW of wind capacity. Read more..
