Earth Capital to channel EUR 300m into renewables, efficiency - report

(SeeNews) - Jun 12, 2014 - UK investment management firm Earth Capital Partners LLC plans to spend some EUR 300 million (USD 406m) on renewable and energy efficiency projects, and the amount may grow to USD 1 billion, Bloomberg said yesterday.

Earth Capital Partners is evaluating options to invest in seven or eight schemes, including solar, onshore wind and waste-to-energy projects, partner Ben Cotton told the news agency. Some transactions will be announced within two to three months.

The UK firm is currently partnering with a major investor for the initial equity acquisitions in renewable schemes, Cotton told Bloomberg, without mentioning names. He added that the company is also holding talks with other parties and lenders to upsize the investment to EUR 1 billion.

In its future investment plans, Earth Capital Partners will target markets where renewables helps lower power costs for communities. South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and some parts of Asia will be of the greatest interest.
