WindStream Technologies Inc (OTCBB:WSTI) has shipped the first units of its PowerMill for a 2-MW project in Argentina, which the US firm hopes would pave the way for follow-on sales in Latin America.
The company has shipped 360 kW of the product, which comprises its Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) and solar panels. By the end of September, WindStream expects the first 1.35-MW phase of the project to be completed. The remainder of the PowerMill deployments are to be wrapped up by the end of 2015.
The project in Argentina is led by Surland Technologies. The power produced by the system will be managed by the Entity of Electrical Cooperatives and Distributors of the Province of Buenos Aires, WindStream said.
WindStream said it is working on other variations of the PowerMill for the needs of utilities, rural electrification projects, and larger consumer needs.
