Power purchase agreements (PPAs) for wind and solar power have been announced in the last two weeks in Europe and the USA, Vietnam and Guam. Renewables Now also covered updates on two auctions awarding long-term contracts for electricity. See the list below.

-- Acciona to supply renewable power to LATAM Airlines

Spanish infrastructure group Acciona SA (BME:ANA) will supply renewable power to Chile-based LATAM Airlines Group, the largest airline group in Latin America.

-- Salesforce signs 80-MW PPA for EDPR wind project in Illinois

US cloud computing company Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) has signed an 80-MW PPA for EDP Renewables SA's 205-MW Bright Stalk wind farm in Illinois.

-- Brazil awards contracts to 2.1 GW in A-6 energy auction

Brazil awarded 2,100.14 MW of power supply contracts in a tender at the end of August to wind, biomass, hydro and natural gas-fired power plant. Wind power was the biggest seller with over 1,250.70 MW across 48 projects.

-- Fin close, PPA deals reached for Triton Knoll offshore wind project

All needed funds, a turbine supply deal and a power off-take contract are already in place for the 860-MW Triton Knoll offshore wind project in the UK. Electricity from the huge offshore complex will be sold to Danish developer Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) as part of a PPA covering the first 15 years of power generation.

-- Zambia issues RfP for 100 MW of solar projects

The government of Zambia has launched a Request for Proposals (RfPs) for 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity under the country’s renewable energy programme. Successful applicants will be awarded 25-year PPAs with state-owned power company ZESCO.

-- Statkraft extends life of German wind farms through new PPAs

Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS has agreed the terms of PPAs for six community wind farms in Germany comprising a total of 31 turbines.

-- EDPR backs 200-MW wind project in Illinois with new PPA

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR), or EDP Renewable, has struck a PPA for 50 MW of its up to 200-MW Broadlands wind project in Illinois with an unnamed company in the energy sector.

-- B.Grimm signs PPA for 420-MW solar project in Vietnam

Thai company B.Grimm Power PCL (SET:BGRIM) has signed a deal to sell the output of a 420-MW solar park in Vietnam to local utility Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

-- Guam Power Authority secures PPAs for 120 MW of solar

The Guam Power Authority (GPA) has signed PPAs for 120 MW of solar projects with Hanwha Energy Corp and a consortium including Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO).
