The local subsidiary of Spanish firm X-Elio, previously known as Gestamp Solar, has inaugurated the 56.7-MW Uribe Solar park in Chile.
X-Elio Chile built the plant on 217 hectareс (536.2 acreс) near Antofagasta. The facility has the capacity to generate about 150 GWh of electricity per year, which is enough to supply some 51,550 homes.
The total cost of the project was USD 115 million (EUR 103m), according to Revista Tecnicos Mineros.
Gestamp Asetym Solar SL, the former solar photovoltaic (PV) arm of Spain’s Gestamp Renewables, in early 2016 changed its name to X-Elio and set a target to reach up to 2.5 GW of installed capacity by 2020.
