Brazilian company Tradener won the 1-MWa (average megawatt) solar energy auction held by Pernambuco, the state government announced on Friday.
Tradener will receive the output from the Fonte Solar I and II parks in Tacaratu, owned by Enel Green Power SpA (BIT:EGPW), until January 1, 2017. It won the right to distribute the power by bidding BRL 165 (USD 49.92/EUR 45.17) per MWh.
From next year, the government is to use the power to supply its public administration buildings that will migrate to the country's free market.
Organised by Pernambuco's Economic Development Agency (AD Diper), 16 groups took part in the competition for the off-take of surplus power.
