to-the-point: KarmSolar to plug in Egypt's 1st PV park in late Sep - report

Cairo-based company KarmSolar plans to switch on a 1-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power system on September 25, thus energising Egypt’s first such facility, Daily News Egypt said today.

The EGP-14-million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m) facility is estimated to save up to 600,000 litres of diesel per year and avoid the emission of 1,620 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually. It will be selling its output to Egyptian beverage and yogurt company Juhayna in Al-Wahat Al-Bahareya.

KarmSolar CEO Ahmed Zahran was quoted as saying that the firm expects to finalise a financial transaction in connection with another project, of 2 MW, in Hurghada by October 26.
