June 6 (Renewables Now) - Engie Energia Chile SA (EECL), a unit of French utility Engie (EPA:ENGI), signed on Tuesday an agreement to supply renewable power to the Quilicura facility in Chile of local construction company Cementos BSA.

EECL will deliver the equivalent to 35 GWh per year, which is enough power to cover 100% of Cementos BSA’s needs at that plant. The electricity will come from local solar and hydropower plants (HPPs).

With this contract, the local company becomes the first of its sector to be powered by green sources and achieve the international I-REC certification, Engie noted.
