to-the-point: Egypt’s CES commissions 20-MW solar park

December 1 (Renewables Now) - Egypt-based company Complete Energy Solutions (CES) has commissioned a 20-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the Sahara desert of Egypt, equipment supplier ABB (VTX:ABBN) said on Tuesday.

Situated in Toshka, the facility uses PVS800 central inverters supplied by Swiss power and automation group ABB, which also provided complete electrical and automation solutions and was responsible for the design, engineering works and commissioning of the plant. The capacity was commissioned in two phases and is seen to support agricultural infrastructure development the area.

Egypt aims to produce at least 20% of its total power from renewables by 2020.
