to-the-point: Abu Dhabi seeks developer for 350-MW PV project

The Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (Adwea) is seeking a developer for a 350-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Sweihan, Reuters said Tuesday, citing informed sources.

The plan is to complete the selection in mid-2016, according to the report. The developer will get a 40% stake in the project, one of the sources has said.

In October, the UAE energy minister Suhail Al Mazroui said that nuclear, solar and other clean energy investments in the country are expected to reach USD 35 billion (EUR 32bn) by 2021. The goal is to reduce the UAE’s dependence on natural gas, the minister said at the Power-Gen Middle East conference.

The 350-MW solar park will be the first renewable energy project for Adwea.
