November 21 (Renewables Now) - Only three bidders have submitted proposals in the tender for the construction of the 500-MW Ibri II solar park in Oman.
Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP) issued a request for proposals (RfP) for the project in June after getting 28 applications in the request for qualifications (RfQ) stage. The deadline for submitting proposals in the competitive selection was October 22.
In a notice published last week, OPWP said the applications in the RfP stage were received from three consortia. The first one includes Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, known as Masdar, Total Solar and Jinko Power HK Co Ltd, while the second one is comprised of ACWA Power, Gulf Investment Corp and Alternative Energy Projects Co. Their rival in the competition is a tie-up between Japan’s Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002), Oman Gas Co SAOC, Nebras Power QPSC and Bahwan Renewable Energy Co LLC.
OPWP has already started assessing the proposals and will select the winning bid early in 2019. The solar park, calling for an investment of USD 500 million (EUR 438.2m), has to become operational by June 2021.
