July 18 (Renewables Now) - Three companies were cleared to participate in the next round of Egypt's tender for the construction of a 50-MW solar park in Zaafarana, the Red Sea Governorate, a source told Daily News Egypt.

The final three are China’s Nari Solar Energy Technology Co Ltd, Kolkata-based Vikram Solar Ltd and Germany’s Belectric Solar & Battery GmbH. Bids from Spanish power and infrastructure group Elecnor SA (BME:ENO) and Australia’s TCK Solar Pty Ltd have been  rejected on technical grounds, the English-language newspaper reported.

Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has notified the qualified companies and expects to receive their financial offers by July 25. The financial and engineering analysis of the winning bid is scheduled to take place before the end of 2019, the Daily News sources have said.

The output of the Zaafarana solar park will be not be priced according to the same rates that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) applies to other NREA power stations. A result close to the current price can be expected.
