TerniEnergia hired to build 47-MWp PV plant in Egypt

Italian company TerniEnergia (BIT:TER) has secured a USD-19.2-million (EUR 17.1m) contract to build a 47-MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant in Egypt.

The order has been awarded by "an Italian leading utility," the renewables, energy efficiency and waste management firm said in a statement on Thursday. It will see TerniEnergia perform the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities for the project, without the supply of modules and inverters.

The solar park will be located in the area of Benban and will use 3Sun panels mounted on steel structures.

3Sun Srl is a thin-film module manufacturer in Catania, Italy, owned by Enel Green Power SpA, the renewables arm of Italian energy group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL).

Egypt's renewables market is attracting growing investor interest, with the country ranking 16th in Ernst & Young's (EY) latest Renewable energy country attractiveness index (RECAI), which tracks 40 markets globally.
