Swiss-based solar cells producer EcoSolifer AG plans to build a photovoltaic (PV) panel factory in Brazil, with initial production capacity of 80 MW annually.
The European company plans to invest up to BRL 150 million (USD 44.5m/EUR 40.8m) in the facility, as well as increase to 200 MW the annual panel production, said Bruno Zacharias, head of the company's operations in Brazil.
According to EcoSolifer estimates, the new plant will be put into operation by April 2016, stated Bruno Zacharias at a meeting with Goais state government on Wednesday to discuss the opportunities that the state can offer.
Initially, the solar cells will be imported from Hungary, but the PV modules will be assembled in Brazil and sold to local solar farms and industries.
