Swiss companies eye Moroccan energy market entry

A delegation of Swiss companies last week visited Morocco to probe the ground for investments in the energy sector and renewable energy in particular.

Lead by Walter Steinmann, director of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), the delegation visited Morocco between November 3 and November 5.

The Swiss met with Abdelkader Amara, Minister of Energy, as well as with representatives of Moroccan power utility ONEE, Moroccan agency for solar power MASEN, Moroccan agency for development of renewable energy and energy efficiency ADEREE and energy investment company SIE.

Besides learning more on how to do business in Morocco, the Swiss companies discussed various plans about bilateral cooperation in finance, engineering services, technology know-how and training services. Many of the Swiss visitors were also interested in investment opportunities that included Sub-saharan African territories as well.
