January 30 (Renewables Now) - Strukton LLC has won a USD-3.8-million (EUR 3.1m) contract for the installation of solar panels in Saudi Arabia, the Dutch infrastructure company said recently.
The deal will see 4,284 panels deployed on the roof of the Riyadh Metro Depot Line 4/6. The solar system is expected to generate 2,452 MWh per year.
Strukton secured the contract in partnership with Wagner Solar, which is also part of the Sanderink Investment Group, from Samsung C&T (KRX:028260). The latter is in charge of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works of Line 4 as part of the FAST consortium.
Strukton hopes that this will be a reference project for the company to enter into a growing market in Saudi Arabia as renewable energy has a key role in the country's sustainability objectives.
