Spanish renewables developer Grenergy Renovables SL (BME:GRE) is organising its own tender in Chile to invite power buyers to bid for the output of its 240-MW Gran Teno solar PV farm in the country.
The Spanish firm said on Wednesday that it is launching the competition through Chilean marketplace Match Energia, and is offering 380 GWh per year. Its goal is to tap into a large pool of power companies, retailers and other businesses to close one or more long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Interested parties can submit their bids by April 5.
The Gran Teno solar project is currently in advanced stages of development. Grenergy said it had already secured environmental approval and permits to connect the future plant.
The solar farm will be located in central Chile, where the power consumption is high and where solar production may prove strategic for various industrial sectors, according to the developer.
Grenergy has pipeline with more than 10 GW of renewable energy projects in ten countries around the world. In Chile, the company has connected over 400 MW of solar PV plants, and is working on a pipeline of more than 2.6 GW of projects in different stages of development, it says.
