Solar Philippines plans 4-GW cluster in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan
Aug 17, 2022 9:55 CESTOctober 28 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewables developer Grupo Ecoener SAU (BME:ENER), through a subsidiary, secured 35 MW/41 MWp of solar power capacity in Colombia’s renewables auction on Tuesday.
Ecoener on Wednesday revealed it was the firm behind Genersol SAS, one of nine auction winners announced by Colombia energy minister Diego Mesa.
Genersol’s was one of 11 proposals to split 796.3 MW of the awarded capacity in Colombia’s third renewable energy auction, which saw only solar projects win power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Ecoener said its entire capacity will come from the Sunnorte solar farm project, an initiative that will represent an investment of EUR 25 million (USD 29m).
The solar farm will start producing electricity for the grid in 2023.
Ecoener has been present in Colombia for five years. Apart from Sunnorte, the company says it is developing 160 MW of hydropower and 130 MW solar PV projects in the South American country.
