January 11 (Renewables Now) - German renewable energy developer Sowitec announced on Thursday it has sold a 200-MW Brazilian photovoltaic (PV) project to an unnamed major European power utility.

The deal, made through its subsidy Sowitec do Brasil Energias Alternativas Ltda, concerns a solar plant located in the state of Pernambuco, the company said. This is the second successful sale for Sowitec within the past nine months. It sold a 400-MW PV project to the same investor back in May 2018. Both projects are part of an up to 1-GW solar complex.

According to Sowitec do Brasil managing director, Matthias Pfister, negotiations for further project sales have started and the company expects to announce more deals in the first half of 2019.
