March 28 (Renewables Now) - Argentina's Secretariat of Energy of the Nation announced on Wednesday that an 80-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park has been switched on in San Juan province.

The Iglesia-Guanizuil PV park, as it is named, was secured in Argentina's RenovAr 1.5 renewable energy auction by Chinese solar module maker JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) at USD 54.10 (EUR 48.11) per MWh, according to the governmental data.

The solar facility is estimated to generate enough power to meet the demand of more than 60,000 homes. It is the 34th renewable energy plant in operation since 2016 and 11th in regards to solar power, the secretariat tweeted.

Under the tender guidelines, as a winner Iglesia-Guanizuil signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the country's wholesale electric market management company CAMMESA.
