Solar EPC tender in Egypt attracts 33 - report

Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) got bids from 33 companies in a tender for the installation of a 20-MW solar power plant, Daily News Egypt said.

Interested "experienced" engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies were invited to make submissions by December 15.

The daily has seen the list of bidders, which it says includes Chinese companies -- Tebian Electric Apparatus (SHA:600089), or TBEA Co Ltd, Dongfang Electric Corp Ltd (SHA:600875) and Shanghai Electric Group Co Ltd (HKG:2727), India’s Sterling & Wilson, Egypt’s Orascom Construction and other local and international firms.

The 20-MW photovoltaic (PV) park will be built in Kom Ombo in Aswan governorate and will get a loan of EUR 40 million (USD 42m) from the French Development Agency (AFD). The facility will be expected to start commercial operations in the second quarter of 2018, according to information on AFD's website.
