Shanghai Electric gets EPC contract for 900 MW PV in Dubai

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power on Tuesday said it has selected Shanghai Electric Group Co (SHA:601727) as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for a 900-MW solar project in Dubai.

The company did not disclose the value of the contract.

ACWA and Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC) won a tender to build the huge photovoltaic (PV) park, which represents the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar complex, in a tender by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The parties signed in April a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) at just USD 16.95 (EUR 14.5) per MWh.

The 900-MW park is planned to be built in stages, the first of which will be commissioned in 2021. The ACWA-GIC consortium owns 40% in the project company Shuaa Energy 3, while DEWA holds 60%.
