September 18 (Renewables Now) - Norway’s Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) has launched a new service that offers industrial customers in emerging markets access to small-scale pre-assembled solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays and battery equipment through leasing agreements and flexible contracts.

The company said its new offering, called Release, is aimed at companies and customers operating in off-grid or remote areas in which the primary source of power are diesel generators. As an alternative, Scatec Solar offers easily installed and redeployable solar systems with capacities ranging from 1 MW to 20 MW.

Scatec Solar has teamed up with Cambridge Energy Partners, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of redeployable single-axis trackers, to deliver the product that can be shipped in containers along with pre-assembled bifacial solar panels.

With battery storage being an integral part of the package, Release has secured framework agreements with Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Denmark’s DEIF for the supply of batteries, the Norwegian company said.

Scatec Solar will first push its solution in the African market where it has already established operations for the Release service, while also pursuing opportunities in Asia and Latin America.
