The Sao Paulo state government, through its fully-owned water and energy company EMAE, has launched a public call to select partners to develop floating solar projects with capacity ranging from 1 MWp to 30 MWp.
The company is looking for private and/or public entities interested in developing floating photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Billings reservoir. EMAE did not disclose the total capacity it is targeting.
After the qualification phase, EMAE intends to acquire up to 49% of the special purpose company (SPE) formed to execute the projects. The winners should be able to enter either the regulated (ACR) or the free market (ACL).
The future plants are initially scheduled to supply power until November 31, 2042, but a different date can be defined by power sector regulator Aneel, EMAE explained.
