October 7 (Renewables Now) - Details on some of Google's contracts for wind and solar power emerged in the last two weeks, and we also covered a bunch of power purchase agreement (PPA) announcements in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Oil and steel producers, telecoms and breweries will be getting green power under such deals. We start with the most recent news.

US oil and gas producer Occidental Petroleum Corp (NYSE:OXY) has announced the start-up of its 16-MW solar park in Texas and the signing of an off-take contract for an additional 109 MW of solar power. -- Colorado utility Platte River seeks 150 MW of solar power
Colorado utility Platte River Power Authority has issued a request for proposals (RFP) targeting up to 150 MW of additional solar photovoltaic (PV) power generating capacity. The new solar capacity has to be added by December 31, 2023, at the latest. The winner of the RfP will get a PPA with a term of between 15 years and 25 years. Read more..

Paris-based investment firm Ardian Infrastructure has secured an off-taker for one-third of the output of the 250-MW Andberg wind farm it is building in Sweden. About 250 GWh of the wind farm’s production will be sold to Swedish municipal power company Skelleftea Kraft under a newly signed ten-year PPA. Read more..

Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, will hold on November 14 its second tender this semester to contract wind and solar power. Cemig will award PPAs with power supply starting in 2023 and in 2041. Read more..

Lightsource BP, the solar power company backed by BP Plc (LON:BP), will be selling electricity from a 240-MW solar project in Colorado to utility Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL) for powering a local steel mill. The 20-year PPA is tied to the output of the Bighorn Solar plant to be installed on EVRAZ North America’s Rocky Mountain Steel property in Pueblo. Read more..

US telecom T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) has sealed five new contracts for the purchase of power from solar and wind parks, thus ensuring 95% of its RE100 commitment to use 100% renewables by 2021. The wireless company said it has signed green contracts involving three solar projects in Virginia -- Foxhound, Greenville and Myrtle, one in Texas -- Rockhound, and a wind project in Otter Creek, Illinois. Google has signed a long-term PPA with AES Gener Chile SA to procure electricity for the expanded section of its data centre in Quilicura, a suburb of the Chilean capital Santiago.
