October 7 (Renewables Now) - Details on some of Google's contracts for wind and solar power emerged in the last two weeks, and we also covered a bunch of power purchase agreement (PPA) announcements in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Oil and steel producers, telecoms and breweries will be getting green power under such deals. We start with the most recent news.

-- Occidental completes PV park in Texas and signs PPA for even more solar

US oil and gas producer Occidental Petroleum Corp (NYSE:OXY) has announced the start-up of its 16-MW solar park in Texas and the signing of an off-take contract for an additional 109 MW of solar power. In both cases, the electricity will go to its enhanced oil recovery field operation in the Permian Basin. Read more..

-- Colorado utility Platte River seeks 150 MW of solar power

Colorado utility Platte River Power Authority has issued a request for proposals (RFP) targeting up to 150 MW of additional solar photovoltaic (PV) power generating capacity. The new solar capacity has to be added by December 31, 2023, at the latest. The winner of the RfP will get a PPA with a term of between 15 years and 25 years. Read more..

-- Canada's Perimeter Solar inks PPA for 74 MW of solar in Alberta

Canadian solar developer Perimeter Solar Inc will be selling electricity from a 74.25-MW portion of a 130-MW solar project in Alberta province to energy infrastructure firm TC Energy, formerly TransCanada Corp. Read more..

-- Ardian inks wind PPA with municipal utility in Sweden

Paris-based investment firm Ardian Infrastructure has secured an off-taker for one-third of the output of the 250-MW Andberg wind farm it is building in Sweden. About 250 GWh of the wind farm’s production will be sold to Swedish municipal power company Skelleftea Kraft under a newly signed ten-year PPA. Read more..

-- Cemig to hold new wind, solar auction in November

Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, will hold on November 14 its second tender this semester to contract wind and solar power. Cemig will award PPAs with power supply starting in 2023 and in 2041. Read more..

-- EDPR signs wind PPA in Mexico

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has signed a 15-year PPA for the output of a future 100-MW onshore wind farm in Mexico. The name of the off-taker was not disclosed. Read more..

-- Lightsource BP agrees power sales from 240-MW Colorado PV park

Lightsource BP, the solar power company backed by BP Plc (LON:BP), will be selling electricity from a 240-MW solar project in Colorado to utility Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL) for powering a local steel mill. The 20-year PPA is tied to the output of the Bighorn Solar plant to be installed on EVRAZ North America’s Rocky Mountain Steel property in Pueblo. Read more..

-- T-Mobile inks five contracts in pursuit of 100% renewables pledge

US telecom T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) has sealed five new contracts for the purchase of power from solar and wind parks, thus ensuring 95% of its RE100 commitment to use 100% renewables by 2021. The wireless company said it has signed green contracts involving three solar projects in Virginia -- Foxhound, Greenville and Myrtle, one in Texas -- Rockhound, and a wind project in Otter Creek, Illinois. -- Sempra clinches PPAs for 150-MW Mexican solar project

Sempra Energy (NYSE:SRE) has signed PPAs for the output of a 150-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park it will build in Mexico. Through its Mexican unit Infraestructura Energetica Nova (IEnova), the company will sell the electricity to subsidiaries of Comercializadora Circulo CCK SA de CV and El Puerto de Liverpool SAB de CV. Spanish power utility Endesa SA (BME:ELE) has emerged successful in a tender for the supply of electricity from 100% renewable sources to public administration bodies in Andalusia. Read more..

-- Sardinian solar farm of 53 MW gets 5-year PPA

Italian steel group ORI Martin SpA will be receiving the output of a 53-MW solar power plant in Sardinia for five years under an agreement with German investor KGAL and commodities trading house DXT Commodities. Read more..

-- Falck signs PPA with Shell Energy for 67.5 MW of Scottish wind

Italian company Falck Renewables SpA (BIT:FKR) has signed a deal to supply the output generated by a 67.5-MW British wind park to Shell Energy Europe Ltd. Read more..

-- Iberdrola inks PPA with Heineken to back 50 MW of new Spanish PV

Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) and the Spanish unit of Heineken NV (AMS:HEIA) have signed a long-term PPA which will support the construction of a 50-MW solar park in the comarca of Andevalo, western Spain. Read more..

Chicago-based renewables developer Hecate Energy LLC will be selling the electricity generated by 250 MW of solar capacity in Texas to search engine major Google. The company will build 500 MW of new solar parks in The Lone Star State to serve its contract with Google. Read more..

-- Google inks hybrid PPA with AES Gener in Chile

Google has signed a long-term PPA with AES Gener Chile SA to procure electricity for the expanded section of its data centre in Quilicura, a suburb of the Chilean capital Santiago. According to reports by Chilean media outlets, the power producer and distributor is to deliver an annual electricity supply of 440 GWh from renewables for 14 years. Read more..

Google has struck a PPA for 130 MW of power from the 250-MW Mutkalampi wind project in Finland, majority-owned by France’s Neoen (EPA:NEOEN). Commissioning of the wind park is scheduled for end-2022. Read more..
