Several power purchase agreements (PPAs) announced in the last two weeks will bring green electricity to companies in the petrochemicals, mining, retail and telecom industries. Contract for solar, onshore and offshore wind power were struck in Europe, Latin America, the US and India. We start with the most recent headlines.

Engie Energia Chile SA has signed an agreement to supply 100% renewable power to a unit of Chilean steel and mining giant Grupo CAP SA. Read more..

Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS has agreed a seven-year extension of its existing offtake contract for the output of the 34-MW Sleaford biomass power plant in Lincolnshire, England. Read more..

Brazilian wind projects developer Casa dos Ventos has signed a PPA with mining multinational Anglo American plc (LON:AAL) for 95 average megawatts (MWa). Read more..
Belgium power and gas supplier Lampiris will be buying the electricity produced by the 309-MW Rentel offshore complex in the Belgian North Sea. The PPA is a result from a competition that the project developer initiated in January in order to find a buyer for the the power plant's output and the related guarantees of origin. Read more..

Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) has signed two corporate PPAs covering 274 MWp of new solar capacity in Brazil. One of the counterparties is Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem SA (NYSE:BAK) and the other is COPEL Energia, part of power group Companhia Paranaense de Energia (NYSE:ELP). Read more..

Brazilian power company Energia Sustentavel do Brasil SA (ESBR) plans to hold an energy auction on July 21, 2020, to contract wind and solar power. ESBR will award PPAs with power supply set to start on January 1, 2023 and end on December 31, 2037 for both sources. Read more..

First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) has inked a 15-year PPA for 75% of a 200-MW solar project in Texas with chemical company Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW). The latter will power its Gulf Coast operations, the biggest petrochemical site in the western hemisphere, with electricity generated by First Solar's Horizon Solar project in Frio. Read more..

8minute Solar Energy has won a bid to sell the electricity from a 200-MW solar project in California’s Kern County that will be coupled with 150 MWh of battery storage.
