January 13 (Renewables Now) - The first two weeks of 2020 brought just a few announcements of power purchase agreement (PPA) signings but a lot of notices about tenders awarding long-term contracts. We start with the most recent stories.

-- Copel to hold 3 auctions for wind, solar power contracts in 2020

Brazilian power utility Companhia Paranaense de Energia (BVMF:CPLE6), better known as Copel, plans to hold three energy auctions this year, to contract wind and solar power. The company will award PPAs with terms of 12 and 14 years. Read more..

-- City of London seeks to award up to 55-GWh renewables PPA

The City of London Corporation is looking for a supplier of up to 55 GWh of renewable power a year under an off-site PPA. The contract will be worth GBP 30.4m (USD 39.7m/EUR 35.8m) over a term of 15 years. Read more..

-- Bosch Malaysia to get power from 3-MWp PV park under Blueleaf deal

Blueleaf energy, formerly known as Conergy, today said it will be providing power from a 3-MWp solar park to the Malaysian unit of German technology group Robert Bosch GmbH. Read more..

-- Cleantech Solar inks 923-kWp solar PPA with medical device maker Ambu

Singapore-based solar power plants operator Cleantech Solar has clinched a deal to provide a 923-kWp rooftop solar array that will be powering facilities owned by medical device maker Ambu Sdn Bhd in Malaysia. Read more..

Chilean energy platform Zona Energia will this year hold a private renewables tender seeking to broker competitive contracts for the supply of clean power on behalf of large consumers. Read more..

-- Malaysia shortlists 491 MW of projects in 3rd solar tender

Five projects totalling almost 500 MW have been successful in Malaysia’s third large-scale solar tender, the Malaysian energy commission Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) announced. Read more..

-- Ormat unit in Hawaii amends geothermal PPA, to add 8 MW

Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV), owned by US-based Ormat Technologies, has agreed an amended PPA with Hawaiian Electric, which includes an 8-MW expansion to the 38-MW geothermal plant on Hawaii Island. The new contract will see the utility pay a fixed rate to PGV, instead of the current one which is linked to oil prices. Read more..

Chicago-based Hecate Energy LLC has clinched a long-term offtake deal to sell electricity to El Paso Electric Company (EPE) from a 100-MW solar project in New Mexico. Read more..
