September 8 (Renewables Now) - Coal mines in Queensland, a major US telecom, a pharmaceutical group in Mexico and a bank in Panama announced power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable electricity in the last two weeks. We start with the most recent announcements.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be buying power for its data centre in Viborg, Denmark from two 200-metre-tall wind turbines in the seaport town of Esbjerg. Read more..

Enel Green Power SpA has secured a contract to supply a total of 31 million kWh of clean energy in Panama over five years. The deal is with state lender National Bank of Panama (Banconal). Read more..

France’s Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) has signed a 10-year PPA to supply wind power from its Spanish portfolio to industrial gases supplier Air Liquide SA (EPA:AI). Read more..

-- BHP inks clean energy PPA for Queensland coal mines

Mining giant BHP Group Plc (LON:BHP) has agreed to buy power from low-emission sources, including wind and solar, to meet 50% of the electricity needs for its coal mining operations in Queensland, Australia. It signed a five-year PPA with CleanCo, the publicly-owned clean energy generator and retailer of Queensland. Read more..
