February 27 (Renewables Now) - Chinese solar module producer Risen Energy Co Ltd (SHE:300118) said on Tuesday it has initiated construction on a 117-MW solar park in Mexico.

The Chinese firm was selected as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agent for the project and will also deliver equipment for the photovoltaic (PV) plant once field analysis and subsequent surveys are completed. The name of the project’s owner was not disclosed.

To be located in the state of Durango, northwestern Mexico, the solar park will be able to generate around 269,068 MWh of electricity each year.

Risen Energy is already involved in a 300-MW solar project in Durango, which has already entered the construction phase and is planned to be the largest facility of its kind in Latin America, once completed. The Chinese company's president Wang Hong noted that the firm is "steadily advancing its expansion in Mexico."
