Eni moves Dogger Bank stake to offshore wind JV with HitecVision
Jun 30, 2022 16:51 CESTSeptember 14 (SeeNews) - Mines globally have installed 352 MW solar photovoltaic (PV), 39 MW solar thermal and 551 MW of wind power capacity, shows a new report by Energy and Mines.
Energy and Mines presented initial results of its global rankings of renewables use in the mining industry, identifying the top 21 mining companies using wind and solar power. The sizes of projects range from 0.01 MW to 180 MW, located in Chile, Australia, Canada, Europe and other markets.
The report lists 943 MW of commissioned and operational wind and solar parks and the plan is to add bioenergy, hydro and geothermal projects in future rankings.
"Based on the number of projects in pre-development and the increasing regulatory and economic drivers, these numbers are expected to grow steadily," said Andrew Slavin, Director, Energy and Mines.
The final Energy and Mines Renewables in Mining Awards and Rankings Report will be released in November at the Energy and Mines World Congress in Toronto.
