Italian renewable energy company Renergetica SpA (BIT:REN) has teamed up with the green energy arm of domestic utility Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) to jointly develop 300 MWp of solar projects in Italy and potentially add more in other countries.
The framework agreement between the companies calls for the development to be carried out over the next three years, Renergetica said earlier this week. In line with the pact’s signing, Enel Green Power Italia Srl has acquired the exclusive rights to 100 MWp of schemes under development in southern Italy.
Outside their home market, the two Italian firms intend to explore the possibility of working on similar projects in Chile, Colombia and Romania. The total capacity that will be added there over the next three years stands at 150 MWp for each country.
“Knowing very well the markets on which we will carry out the new projects, we are absolutely certain of the success of our collaboration with Enel even outside national borders,” said Renergetica's Stefano Giusto.
Renergetica and Enel Green Power are already partnering in the development of photovoltaic (PV) projects in northern Italy.
