Oct 22, 2014 - Pakistani energy services company Buksh Energy and other local firms are preparing for partnerships with Danish peers in renewable energy projects after a visit to Denmark this month.
Pakistan’s DailyTimes today cited the firm’s chairman Asim Buksh as saying that the potential for trade between the Asian country and Denmark is much greater than the current volume of some USD 425 million (EUR 335m).
Seven companies from Pakistan sent representatives to the Scandinavian country to examine wind, solar and water technology projects there. They are also planning to tighten cooperation in bioenergy, waste-to-energy and other advanced technological energy segments, the report said.
Denmark is one of Europe’s renewable energy leaders and, according to Buksh Energy director Fiza Farhan, can serve as an example for Pakistan which is dealing with a severe energy crisis. Denmark already sources more than a quarter of its energy from renewables. The Pakistani government, on its part, is planning to put on stream nearly 16.6 GW of new power plants by 2018, including 1 GW of solar capacity at the Quaid i Azam solar park in Punjab province.
