February 6 (Renewables Now) - Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has extended the deadline for expression of interest (EoI) in the development of a 100-MWp solar project till February 14.

PDO issued the EoI call in early January and the end date for registering interest was previously set for January 31.

The company is looking for a developer of a 100-MWp solar park at Amin, southern Oman. It will buy the entire output of the plant under a 23-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The successful bidder will be responsible for the design, construction, ownership, financing, operation and maintenance of the solar park. The facility will be constructed under the build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model and will have to be installed in 18 months. The contract is expected to be awarded in June.

PDO says this is its first renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) project.
