Oman picks Marubeni-led consortium for 100-MW PV project

October 30 (Renewables Now) - Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) said Monday it has awarded a contract for the construction of a 100-MW photovoltaic (PV) project to a consortium led by Japan's Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002).   

The Japanese-Omani consortium that won the bidding process for the project also includes Oman Gas Company SAOC, Bahwan Renewable Energy Company LLC and Modern Channels Services LLC. It will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, financing and operation and maintenance (O&M) of the solar power plant, to be located at Amin, southern Oman, in PDO's concession area. PDO will buy the project's output under a 23-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

An awarding ceremony will be held on November 7 when more information will be released, the company said.
