The second round of the tender was initiated in June. It presents an opportunity for the establishment of green hydrogen production sites in Dhofar, southern Oman, through up to three blocks ranging in size from 340 square kilometres to 400 square kilometres (154.4 square miles). The winners in the competition will be announced at the end of the first quarter of 2024.
In the first round, Hydrom signed five deals for green hydrogen projects in the Duqm area, central Oman, worth a total investment of around USD 30 billion (EUR 27.77bn). The land plots awarded for hydrogen production in the first round of the tender will ensure that Oman will reach its goal of producing at least 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen by the end of this decade.
