May 25, 2022 7:51 CESTJanuary 18 (Renewables Now) - Indian state-run energy company NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) is procuring bids from developers for the execution of solar projects in the Republic of Cuba with a combined capacity of 900 MW, according to a statement quoted by Indian media.
The request for qualification (RFQ) process is set to launch in March and run until May 2022.
A corporate partner of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), NTPC will work together with Union Electrica de Cuba (UNE) to implement the initiative, acting as the preferred partner. The Indian company’s role will be to assist UNE and Cuba’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) in the selection process, in the signing of project deals and overseeing implementation.
Solar parks are expected to be built in 175 locations across all 15 provinces of Cuba. They should help achieve a local target for the implementation of 2,100 MW of solar projects.
