October 25 (Renewables Now) - A 75-MW wind project was granted a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in the additional round of the Colombian renewable energy auction.

Colombia's national mining and energy planning unit UPME announced Thursday that the Apotolorru wind farm project was added as part of the auction’s complementary mechanism, a new round designed to ensure that the target demand set by the government is fully met.

The main round on Tuesday ended with bids for 10,186 MWh per day, below the 12,050.5-MWh target set by the country's mining and energy ministry.

The additional round allowed bids to be placed for the missing 1,864.5 MWh per day. In this round, the 75-MW wind farm and previously selected projects split the needed electricity for a weighted average price of COP 106.66/kWh (USD 0.031/kWh/EUR 0,028/kWh).

The results of the complementary round are given in the table below:

Power generators: Controlling company: Project name: Technology: Capacity:
Trina Solar Generador Colombia - Campano SAS ESP Trina Solar Limited Proyecto Parque Solar El Campano Solar PV N/A
Empresa de Energia del Pacifico SA ESP Celsia SA Eolico Acacia 2 Wind N/A
Jemeiwaa Ka'I SAS ESP AES Chivor Parque Eolico Apotolorru Wind 75 MW

This week's auction concludes with six wind and three solar farm projects being assigned 15-year PPAs for the supply of renewable power starting January 1, 2022.
