Matrix Renewables closes financing for 328-MW solar DG portfolio in Chile

January 11 (Renewables Now) - Madrid-based Matrix Renewables, backed by asset manager TPG, has closed a non-recourse long-term financing agreement for 328 MW of solar distributed generation (DG) projects in Chile.

The USD-290-million (EUR 256.2m) financing was closed under a US Private Placement scheme. It was oversubscribed and will have a tenor of more than 20 years, Matrix Renewables announced today.

With 48 photovoltaic (PV) projects part of the Chilean PMGD programme for small DG plants, this is the largest portfolio of PMGDs ever financed in the country and the first long-term US Private Placement for this type of asset.

The portfolio comprises operational, under construction or late-stage development projects, including schemes acquired from Trina Solar Ltd (SHA:688599) and Verano Capital.

Matrix Renewables’ current portfolio consists of more than 1.4 GW of projects in Latin America, Europe and the US.
