Nov 22, 2013 - Mainstream Chile, the local subsidiary of Ireland-based Mainstream Renewable Power, has received a state-owned plot in the Chanaral province to build and operate the 162 MW Diego Pedernales photovoltaic park.
The company will install 579,000 solar panels near Diego de Almagro city after over three years of work and studies in the area, CEO Jose Ignacio Escobar said.
Mainstream Chile has a 25-year concession for the plot.
The company wants to develop 600 MW in Chile in the next three years. It is currently building its first wind farm, the 33-MW Negrete, and plans to start construction of an additional wind capacity of some 70 MW in 2014.
