May 12 (Renewables Now) - Longi Hydrogen will supply alkaline electrolysers for the CNY-3-billion (USD 447m/EUR 423m) green hydrogen production complex developed by China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (HKG:0386), better known as Sinopec.

The company, part of Longi Green Energy Technology Co Ltd (SHA:601012), said it will deliver large-scale water electrolysis equipment for the production of 4,000 normal cubic metres of hydrogen per hour (Nm³/h).

As previously announced, Sinopec is building the facility in the city of Kuqa in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The project involves the construction of a 300-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant that will supply electricity to electrolysers with the combined capacity to produce 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.

The complex is seen to become operational in June 2023. In March, it was unveiled that China’s Risen Energy Co Ltd (SHE:300118) will supply solar panels for the project.

Longi expects to expand its alkaline electrolyser production capacity to 1.5 GW by the end of the current year and to reach 5 GW by end-2025.
