JKL Energy proposes 1-GW solar power complex in Brazil's Piaui

February 5 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian energy firm JKL Energy intends to build a 1-GW solar photovoltaic (PV) power complex in Piaui state, the local government announced on Thursday.

The solar project will consist of four million panels in total, divided into portions of 500,000 panels per 500 hectares (1,235.5 acres) between the municipalities of Guaribas and Caracol.

No financial details were disclosed during the meeting between government officials and the company's representatives.

Governor Wellington Dias stressed that the land situation has already been resolved and the parties have established the details for the project to enter the energy auctions scheduled for September 2021.

According to data from power sector regulator Aneel, Piaui currently has 2,084.27 MW of authorised solar power.
