Jun 24, 2022 18:49 CESTMarch 7 (Renewables Now) - JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) has sealed a deal to deliver 100 MW of solar modules to its main distributor in Yemen, AlNasr Solar For Solar & Electrical Solutions, for projects during 2022.
Half of the contracted deliveries will feature Jinko Solar's Topcon technology (N Type) photovoltaic modules which are expected to drastically improve the power gains of the projects for which they will be supplied in the Yemeni market, the solar panel manufacturer said over the weekend. The new modules deliver a maximum power output of up to 620 W and a conversion efficiency of up to 22.30%, Jinko Solar said at the end of 2021 when the technology was launched.
The first solar modules will be sent to AlNasr Solar by the end of the first quarter.
Yemen, which has been mired in a civil war for about a decade, is seeking to raise the share of renewables to 15% of the electricity generation in the country by 2025. Solar plants produced 484 GWh of electricity in 2019 while the bulk of 2,803 GWh came from oil, according to data from the International Energy Agency. Natural gas accounted for 315 GWh.
