September 5 (Renewables Now) - Colombian power producer and retailer Isagen SA ESP will soon start building a 100-MW solar farm in Sabanalarga, a town in Colombia’s department of Atlantico, the company announced in a press release last week.

Spain-based firm Negratin will provide the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, Isagen said. The Sabanalarga solar farm is expected to start operations in the second half of 2023.

The project came to Isagen through an acquisition. Early last year, the company bought the development from Spanish firm Grupo Solaer for an undisclosed amount.

Isagen said that the Sabanalarga scheme is part of its growth plans, which last year amounted to close to COP 1 trillion (USD 222.9/EUR 224.9m) of investments in wind and solar projects.
