May 24 (Renewables Now) - The Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence will partner with innogy International Middle East in residential and industrial rooftop solar projects under the Shams Dubai initiative, the Innogy SE (ETR:IGY) subsidiary said today.
The pair will initially focus on 12 specific opportunities they have identified. Innogy did not give specific details, but said part of the collaboration will include the design of a standardised low-cost solar kit for residential solar applications, and for large-scale industrial solar rooftops.
Innogy International Middle East, previously known as RWE Middle East, will provide consulting services and will support the projects with solutions from its global innovation hub.
As announced last week, Dubai Carbon is one of the three winners in Etihad Energy Services Co LLC’s tender for contractors for a rooftop solar project involving 640 villas in the mountainous Hatta region. More specifically, Dubai Carbon will be responsible for the installation of rooftop solar systems at 220 villas.
The Hatta rooftop solar initiative is one of the first projects for Etihad Solar, a dedicated division set up to distribute solar power generation solutions in the UAE.
