Australia-based firm Infinite Blue Energy Pty Ltd will partner with Aboriginal-owned business Boya Energy to develop and build a 10-MW green hydrogen production plant in Western Australia.
The companies will collaborate on the projects under a Heads of Agreement (HOA) signed on Wednesday, Infinite Blue Energy said in a LinkedIn post. The partnership is expected to see Boya Energy take a 10% stake in the project.
To be located in Northam, near Perth, the MEG HP1 hydrogen plant will be using electricity from the 11-MW Northam Solar Farm, which Infinite Blue Energy agreed to acquire at the end of March. Once in operation, the facility will be able to produce up to four tonnes of hydrogen daily for use in medium and heavy-duty transport. It commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023,
Infinite Blue Energy previously said that some of the green hydrogen will be used by waste management companies for back-to-base refuse collection vehicles and also by fleet vehicles local to MEG HP1. Contracts with off-takers are being negotiated.
The MEG HP1 project will come with come energy storage capacity, as well. A final investment decision on the scheme is expected to be taken later this year.
