Aug 9, 2012 - India’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah yesterday said he had discussed with Chile's Foreign Affairs Minister potential collaboration on renewable energy projects.
Abdullah met yesterday with Alfredo Moreno Charme in India's capital. Their discussion included ways to exchange renewable energy expertise. According to Abdullah, Chile can turn to solar power to help meet the power demand surge that is expected in the northern parts of the country, the area where most of Chile's mines are located.
India is looking to add 29,800 MW of grid-connected renewable energy capacity between 2012 and 2017.
