Airbus sets up hydrogen tech development centre in UK
May 27, 2022 14:25 CESTJune 9 (Renewables Now) - HyperSolar Inc (OTC:HYSR), a US-based firm developing solar hydrogen production technology, said on Monday that it is ready to kick off fabrication of its pilot GEN 1 solar hydrogen generation panels.
HyperSolar's technology uses sunlight and any source of water to produce renewable hydrogen. Its solar hydrogen panels will be used in demonstration pilot plants, the first one of which will be built “in the near future,” according to CEO Tim Young.
The company said that it has completed the final tests on essential components needed for the manufacturing of the first series of the GEN 1 panels and has successfully transferred the lab-based design on membrane and catalysts components into manufacturable design and parameters. It wants to produce 100 demonstration units of the solar hydrogen panels.
“Our biggest challenge for manufacturing was to replicate what we built in the lab in full scale manufacturing,” the CEO said.
HyperSolar also has plans for a Gen 2 panel, which it says will be three times more efficient than its predecessor. It will utilise nanotechnology.
