E-fuels multinational HIF Global said that it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with German gas stations operator Lother Gruppe and the eFuel GmbH alliance to accelerate the availability of e-fuels in Europe.
The signing took place in Santiago, Chile, as part of a visit by Hamburg mayor Peter Tschentscher and members of this delegation to South America to discuss green hydrogen, among other matters.
HIF Global is currently building the Haru Oni pilot plant in southern Chile to produce e-fuels from green hydrogen and recycled CO2. The company said that its partnership with Lother Gruppe and eFuels GmbH will work to bring HIF Global’s e-fuels to Germany and beyond.
efuels GmbH is a joint venture (JV) formed by ten medium-sized gas station operators and energy traders, among which is Lother Gruppe. Its goal is to promote and invest in innovative and climate-neutral technologies, projects and companies.
“With the development of the needed logistics infrastructure to produce synthetic fuels, Hamburg projects itself as a European hub for the distribution of this green energy. We believe this is a key project, which combines business and ecology in a sustainable way," commented Lorenz Kiene, eFuel GmbH Managing Director.
