GlassPoint hires GE executive as CEO

March 21 (Renewables Now) - GlassPoint Solar Inc, the California-based company specialising in solar for the oil industry, said Monday it has appointed Steven Moss as chief executive.

Moss, who most recently headed General Electric's (NYSE:GE) Renewable Steam Plants business, will lead GlassPoint's growth plans, diversifying in new markets in the Middle East and North America and commercialising its next generation technologies, the company said. He will be based in Oman, where GlassPoint is developing the 1,021-MWt Miraah solar steam plant with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The first 100 MWt of the facility were commissioned late last year. GlassPoint also has a big project with Aera Energy in California.

The company said its new chief executive has 30 years of experience in the energy and aerospace sectors. Befor GE he was with Alstom Power.

"Steven brings a solid track record of building businesses across industrial markets, where he's developed diverse product portfolios and turnkey power plants," said GlassPoint non-executive chairman Zaki Selim. "He also brings extensive experience in the global renewables business, particularly on the design and construction of solar thermal projects," Selim added.
